Appetizer:
"Who is your favorite author?"
The most common answer will be
MUHAMMAD ZAFAR IQBAL if the question is asked to any Bangladeshi child
or teen book lover. I am also not a exception to it. I have read so many
books of him. Mark that - so many! xD I can't tell all about them. But I
thought to write and make you known about the books which compelled me
to say - "Zafar Iqbal sir! You are the best!" again and again.
This is the first post of the series post - 'Books of Muhammad Zafar Iqbal'.
1. রাশা (Rasha):
7th grader Rasha is currently a daughter of a single parent, her
mother. Her
parents got separated recently. After the separation Rasha's mother married a Canadian man. She promised Rasha to take her to Canada with them after 1 month. Till then she have to be with her grandmother at the village. But, after 1 month a letter came to Rasha where her mother told her sorry as she could not take her to Canada and that is not possible anymore. This made Rasha totally disappointed and she started to search on the internet, 'easy ways to commit suicide'. But soon she understood the wrong of that and tried to bring her strength back. It was not easy for Rasha to adjust with the environment of the village and with her half mental patient Grandmother (though they both loved each other a lot) as she was the dweller of the biggest city of the country from her very birth. But she did it finally with few of adventures and fun.
This book inspired me a lot to keep faith on the existence of solution behind each and every problems.

2. বুবুনের বাবা (Bubuner Baba - Bubun's father): Pre-teenager boy Bubun recently shifted to a little city from the capital with her mother Doctor Rowshan. He was forced to go out of the house and
to mix up with the children by her mother. Very soon he became friends with Sumi (girl like a boy), Gabbu (chubby boy) and Piyal (nerd and curious to all the electronics). The greatest sadness of Bubun is that his father was lost. One day, he and his mother got a news of his father. Their temporarily emerged happiness was relapsed as they came to know that his father was totally a mentally sick patient who forgot his past.
You should read the book to know what happened next.
3. বৃষ্টির ঠিকানা- (Brishtir Thikana- Address of Rain): This is the 3rd and last review of this post. These three books are almost of same type. This is the best among them. I read the book almost for 5-6 times, I am not bored yet!
14 years old Tumpa lives with her mother, step father and step brother Liton. She was born in Bangladesh and migrated to the US after the second marriage if her mother when Tumpa was only 3/4 years old. As days passed she started to realize how fake was the love of his step dad. Her father never allowed her to go out with her friends or to have any hangouts with them. She was forced to be home-centered. One day she came to know about Bangladesh from her substitute teacher Mrs. Henricson. She was flown by love for her own country and started researching about her own country and got so many informations which made her proud for her own country. She has a keen attraction and talent towards painting. But her step father once told that, "I will not allow paint-faint in my house! Be serious to your studies and get a good job." At the first class of Mrs Henricson she drew a picture of her and Mrs. Henricson discovered the talent of Tumpa. She managed her father to give the permission to go to Atlantic City to attend an art contest. She stood second there and she got 1,500 US Dollar as prize by picturing the song 'September on Jessore Road'. Finally, she was able to visit Bangladesh by her own money. She stayed at the house of her maternal aunt where she was cordially invited by his uncle and two cousins.
The flow of the story made her think about her dad. Her actual dad. She didn't know that her father was a famous artist of Bangladesh. She came to know that, her father is a schizo and no one have any single info about where he was or whether he was alive or not. She started the mission to find her dad though she had a plan to visit the tourist places of Bangladesh. After visiting an art exhibition, she came to know about a friend of his father. He told to Tumpa to not keep the hope to see her dad as her dad is bound with the fear of getting killed by someone and he do not get out of his house. Tumpa requested him to give her just a little opportunity to see her dad. He could not refuse that. Something unexpected happened after that.
(To be continued. . .)
